Texas Buffalo Adventures

 106 pounds!

Proof that buffalo get over 100 lbs in east Texas.

This replica is on display at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Fisheries Center.  This specimen was unfortunately harvested by a bowfisher on Lake Hawkins.  Lake Hawkins is the neighbor and little brother of the legendary Lake Fork, the King of the Sabine and home of Texas Buffalo Adventures.

"I feel so honoured to have caught the 54lb plus Helix from Austin and the 47lb plus Quazi' from Lake Fork really was something else but the fish that left the biggest impression on me was the monster I lost on Lake Fork.
That place is going to re-write the angling history books soon."

Thanks for visiting!  My name is Jason Johonnesson and I invite you to come and fish with us for the largest buffalos in the world.

My family and I are avid carpers and buffalo anglers with many water body and IGFA World Records between us.  We practice British and European style rod, pod, & alarm, catch, photo, & release angling, also known as Session Fishing.  Session fishing is the ultimate angling experience combining camping with capturing huge and hard fighting fish.  It is so much fun that there is no other sporting or recreational activity that we would rather be doing.

Buffalo are one of the few freshwater species, native to Texas, that gets bigger here than anywhere else in the world.  They are a real Texas treasure.

Although our carp, which should not be confused with buffalo, might not get as large as their European counterparts they are not small by any means. What is special about our Texas carp, which were originally stocked from German brood stock by the US government and thought to be so valuable that they were guarded by fence and armed guards, is that they are the hardest fighting carp that you will find anywhere.

Come fish with us and enjoy the ultimate angling experience.  You don’t need to bring any kit or tackle, I supply everything.  Just bring your clothes and that’s it.  I will pick you up from the airport when you arrive and return you when it is time to depart.  While you are here we will fish 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We will fish a variety of venues, depending on how long your stay is, from central, east, & north Texas with Lake Fork, in east Texas, being our home base.

I look forward to seeing your face once you have captured your first buffalo.

Cheers!

Jason

A WORD TO THE SERIOUS ANGLER…  There is no need to worry.  I am not going to bait your hooks, cast your lines, bait your swims, touch your rods, or catch your fish for you.  Your captures will be YOUR captures.  I simply handle the practicalities and take you to the best buffalo fisheries on earth.  The rest is up to you.

If you attempt to fish Texas waters on your own you may encounter several problems.

·     First it is next to impossible to get all the kit you will need on a plane.

·     Secondly, just getting a rental car and navigating your way out of DFW airport is a daunting task.  DFW airport is the 3rd largest airport in the world and bigger than most cities.  Traveling the vast distances to these locations is also a daunting task.  Remember, Texas is more than twice the size of Germany, and bigger than France.  It’s HUGE!

·     Thirdly, without local knowledge and connections you will endure much aggravation just trying to secure a place to fish.  Our waters are designed for boat anglers.  Fishing from the bank wasn’t even an afterthought and most venues have little to no bank access, especially for overnighters.  The banks are almost 100% private property.

Once you calculate the expense of cargo, vehicle rental, fuel, and food you will realize that it is cheaper to fish with me to begin with.  It really is a no brainer.
